In multi-select questions, ‘Maximum selections’ determines how many answers (or options) a respondent can select. For example, in the case of a poll, ‘Max_select = 1’ means that a member can only vote for one of the options provided.

Setup max_select in a new poll

• In the /poll command, use the max_select option and enter the maximum number of answers you want your users to select:
• You can for example ask your friends to vote for a maximum of 3 titles for the book club or the next movie night with max_select = 3

All new polls are ‘multi-select’ by default unless you define a max_select of 1 or more answers:

• 1️⃣ If you want a single-select (respondents can only select one answer), use max_select 1
• 🔢 If you want a multi-select with a maximum number of answers, use max_select followed by the number of maximum answer, eg. max_select 2 for a maximum of 2 answers selected
• ♾️ Just ignore the max_select option entirely and you will have a multi-select with as many answers as the respondent wants

Edit max_select in poll after it was created

Once a poll is created, you can change max_select at any time. Note that changes will only affect votes going forward:

• Edit your poll with /edit
• Select the poll
• Select Edit Questions

• Select the poll question (there should only be one to choose from)
